Tariq "Coach T" Toran will begin his second season as an assistant coach of the Bulldogs. During his first year, he helped coach the team through their first season in the American Midwest Conference.
Toran was an assistant coach for the Springfield Xpress a Semi-Pro team during the (2010-12) seasons, working with the low post players, putting together the team's offensive and defensive strategies, and helping with the program's recruiting efforts. The Xpress experienced their best season in program history in (2012).
Toran also served as an assistant coach on AAU circuit with the Illinois Blue Demons (2010-11). Also he is now helping with Chatham Glenwood traveling team (currently).
During the Fall of (2001), Toran developed one of the largest men’s and youth basketball leagues in Springfield IL, design to help youth get college placement and adult men a chance to play Semi-pro or start an over sea’s career. Shortly after (2004) Toran started officiating basketball on high school and college levels to understand the game in every aspect.
As a player, Toran began at Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, IN. He also played AAU traveling basketball with Gunslingers IN. Earning his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Jackson State University in May 1998 before beginning a life to serve in athletics.
Toran is married to Katrina, and the couple has three children, son Tyler (14) and daughters Kaleah (9) and Keziah (6). Toran and his wife are the active Youth Ministers in their church; Toran also helps with the local area Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He serves in a mission to "see coaches and players, all whom they influence impacted for the glory of God."
