Bulldogs Down Lynx In AMC Showdown

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

Springfield, Ill.~ A 23-point night by junior Thomas Dillard, paired with three other Bulldogs in double figures helped Benedictine University at Springfield take down AMC foe Lindenwood University-Belleville (Ill.) on Tuesday evening.

The Bulldogs wasted no time and went on a 12-2 run before LU-Belleville had to call a timeout. The Lynx tested the Bulldog defense and would gain the lead late in the first, but not before a full-team defensive effort by the Bulldogs to take it back. Dillard tallied three of his six 3's in the first half, leading the Bulldogs to a 37-31 advantage.

LU-Belleville are nationally ranked in rebounding, and rebounding they did in the second to help climb back into contention. The Bulldogs and Lynx would go back and forth, trading both fouls and points. The Bulldogs had one of their best performances at the line, going 15 for 19 (.789) and would hold the Lynx to their second-lowest rebound total of the season. A well rounded scoring effort by the Bulldogs led by Dillard as well as Darius Stallworth (15 Pts) Clavontae Brown (12 Pts) and Stephan Shepherd (11 Pts) moves the Bulldogs to 8-9 in the AMC, 11-13 on the year.

BenU Springfield gets right back to action on Thursday, February 11th against the third-ranked Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) at 6:00PM. Full game coverage will be provided on the Bulldog Sports Network.
