Cross Country Competes at AMC Championships

Springfield, Ill.~ Men's and women's cross country traveled to Jefferson City, Mo. on Friday afternoon to compete in the American Midwest Conference Championships.

The women's 5K kicked off at 2:00 p.m. at the Cole County Fairgrounds. The women's team would finish in seventh place with Tessa Longo leading the Bulldogs in 28th place with a time of 23:31. Hannah Deal and Tierra Alvey finished 36th and 37th, coming in nine seconds apart at 25:11 and 25:20. Ellen Theis ran a strong 25:33, with Brittany Arkebauer finishing 42nd at the 30:10 mark.

Shortly after the men's 8K commenced with BenU Springfield finishing in sixth place. Freshman Colby Purcell, once again, paced the team finishing 22nd at 29:22. Austen Horn and Gilbert Maruna finished together at 32nd and 33rd place, 31:37 and 31:43, respectively. Ryan Carroll ran one of his season's best times at 32:59 with Trevor Hebert crossing the line at 40:35.
