Kerry Crum starts his first year as Head Softball Coach at Benedictine University at Springfield for the 2013 season. The Bulldogs finished 11-31-1 last season (5-11 in the AMC). The Bulldogs, with seven returners and five freshman bolstering the lineup, look to improve in their third full season as an NAIA institution. While his specialty lies in pitching, his keen sense of softball will help develop other positions for the Bulldogs. Crum's goal for BenU Springfield softball is to cultivate and build an NAIA powerhouse which will contend each year at the national level.
Crum, no stranger to softball, has spent the last 34 years in secondary education, 25 years in the Springfield area. Crum spent much of his time at Southeast High School, where his Spartan softball teams collected over 300 wins, including 4 conference titles, a regional title, and a sectional appearance. Also competing at the highest level of fastpitch softball as a pitcher, Crum's team collected over 600 wins including a men's major national title.
Crum, and his wife Kathy, resides in Springfield, Ill.
